looks like one in my opinion
it looks alot like one to me, but i do not see a black spot on the dorsal fin. could it be a lake chub (are they in mass? I read that northern NH has them).

def not a lake chub. caught this guy in a small stream up by greenfield mass

Lake chubs can be found in streams as well as lakes if i remember right, i have no idea if they are in mass. It definately looks chub like but too brownish to be a fallfish.
As for greenfield you were very very close to where I live, you should have invited me.

I looked at pictures of tails, this fishes tail is definately not forked enough to be a lake chub. It's tail looks most like the creek chub of the three.I see the dorsal spot... fin is just folded down some. And that huge mouth... yes, it is a creek chub.
I guess this proves eastern creek chubs can have brownish pigmentation too, i wonder where the line seperating brownish and silvery creek chubs are, or are they usually quite variable.
