i have two of these fish.
i seldom see them other then feeding time.
they like shrimp pellets and worms.
the last few months as it has been warmer i have been placing some new shiners and other small 3"
fish in the tank one or two come up missing then 4-5 i think the madtoms are feeding on them at night.
they never bother my orangespot sunfish but ever time i add daters to my stream tank or shiners there gone inside of a month.

ya that seems like them...the sunfish is probably just to big. the shiners and the darters rest on the bottom during lights out. i never see my margined even during feeding. i moved his driftwood the other day and he came out. he looked very healthy.he must be finding food because he aint eating the shiners either

I had a stonecat, it was very secretive. It also ate fish at night. They get too big to be kept with darters and shiners that you don't want to get eaten.
