For a fish that isn't supposed to be in NJ and that I've never seen before I seem to running into these guys a lot.A friend and I caught this one a few others from a tiny stream that runs into the Millstone River then eventually into the Raritan River. If this fish and the others My friend and I caught are Green Sunfish then that's 2 different water systems they are in which means they can be in most of Northern and Central NJ.

Absolutely it is indeed. Weird if they aren`t supposed to be there.

Nothing weird about it, people have been busily spreading them around for decades.

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I have to wonder how more I've caught over the years and just not noticed. I would think I would have noticed because they really don't look like the Redbreast,Pumpkinseed and Bluegill sunfish I've caught but you never know. What is really funny is that I've only caught them out of small streams not lakes or rivers which is usually a sign that they are native. The first stream I caught them from fed a lake that was drained so that can account for the Green sunfish there. The second stream I haven't been able to trace very far or even find a name for. I was on a website some time ago that detailed streams and creeks and what they ran into. I'll have to look for it.
