I just wanted to share with you guys the pictures of my 6 current tadpole madtoms. They will range from smallest to largest.

Madtom5:

showing its a female (atleast from what I read...)

Madtom6:

showing off its a male (once again based on what I have read..)

I am thinking (didn't attempt to sex them all) but madtoms 2,4,and 5 seem to be gravid (IMO) and I would then guess fishes 3,6 to be males. Fish 1 I think is still way to small, but time will tell.

Showing them all in the bucket waiting to be photographed:

hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoy the fish!

I caught every single one with my dipnet. I have not been able to seine yet, and traps have not worked.

Nice! I love madtoms. I've never caught a tadpole madtom, though they are found in my area. I need to try harder!

YOu cannot go wrong with them. I enjoy just after lights out as the fish are extremely active then. I can get them to come out more when I feed the darters red worms, brine shrimp and blood worms. I will see them swimming out during the day when there is food in the water.

Beautiful Tadpole Madtoms. Just my humble opinion, but I think that your fish would prefer to stay in the water next time they are photographed. I would enjoy seeing your tank setup that you have these madtoms in. Good to see someone else with such an interest in these fascinating little fish.

I received a call from the person taking care of my fish and they stated they found a FRY!!! they said its about 1/4" and dark.. they put it in a fry container with some plants. This has me excited!!!

When I get home I will post a picture of the tank, and the only reason they were out of water was Planet Catfish wanted photographs of the genitalia for sexing purposes in the catelog.
