This is a picture of a crawfish in the creek near FM 1826 and Crystal Drive, just west of Austin, Tx. I am wondering if anyone can identify this species.Attached File  Crawfish in the creek.jpg   272.63KB   0 downloads

Not a cray expert, but it looks like a red swamp cray to me.

The Devil Crayfish is a burrowing crayfish so it is usually found in the ground. It digs a burrow down to the water table. I'm looking for one myself but no luck so far. I have heard of them being caught in streams but it's not common. A forum member here Dan Johnson also lives in Texas and is very active collecting crayfish. He would be a great help to you.

That crayfish is Procambarus clarkii or Red Swamp Crayfish. It is common in the area.
