freshwater bryozoan

are freshwater bryozoan dangerous to fish? I was thinking of adding one to one of my tanks, but didn't know if anyone has any experience with them.

I think they can catch smaller fry from the egg laying species, but they are not dangerous to the adult fish. Same thing with hydra.

Snails eat bryozoans like candy, most fish seem to be indifferent, I never saw any evidence they hurt fish but the snails eat them so fast even a big one is gone in a week or two...

I tried them in captivity a few times with no success, but maybe if you can find a small colony and bring whatever they are attached to, home with you. That might help, if possible.

I had Plumatella going for a while in a "ditch tank," but no luck with the big jelly-ball types.

Some blackfish in our area feed on bryozoans. Last fall I discovered one fish that had eaten over 150 statoblasts which are the tiny disc-like spores produced by bryozoans for overwintering. Here’s a good photo I found online:
