Hey guys,

When I try to vote up or down on a post, it says I have reached my quota for the day. Even if I have not made any votes. Wyizzit?

I tend to avoid using forum voting systems, in my experience one of two things always happens on them. Either one person gets popular and has a fan club that votes up every post by them, or someone decides to be a jerk and starts voting everyone down.

I have been on 2 or 3 other forums over the years that used voting systems and every time things like that have happened. Do you have any plans on what to do if voting gets abused? Or implemented ways to prevent its misuse?

This is a trial. If trial does not work, we will discontinue it's use.

Hopefully having a limited number of votes per day will cut down on abuse.

Martin, maybe your quota is zero votes per day. :fishy:

Hey, it works! Now I am free to vote up or down with reckless abandon! I can elevate crummy posts and diss good ones. This is GREAT!

Thanks Drew!

Man, I am all about overall forum quality, But I have to also say that a bit of comic relief is much needed around here. I almost spewed my beer on the laptop after that outburst. We would go along way by not taking ourselves so seriously. Thanks Martin. I am going to give you a plus one for that, but sadly am going to have to dig up every "your fish is gonna die" post am slam you a bit. J/K

Maybe this voting this isn't such a bad idea for the sole reason Irate is a pretty funny guy.

Is there any possible way the moderators can put a time limit on when a post can be voted on (like a month)? Thanks Joe.

Just curious...Why a time limit?

It is my understanding that the rating system was devised to get members feedback into how they want NANFA to evolve, and to give the overpressured moderators a little break (correct me if Im wrong). If my understanding is correct, then I believe that time limits would naturally help in that respect (Im asking about generous time limits like a week to a month in time).

There is no way to limit it by post age. The only restrictions are whether we allow positive and/or negative and how many per member in a 24 hour period.
