Alrighty; so I caught 3 of these little tiny fish (>1"). They're silver with a black stripe down the middle and were caught in the thames river on what is usualy land, with a solid mud bottom. They are very thin relative to length. They were in a small school in this shallow area. They are staying mostly near the top of my aquarium. I also caught a snail black and small ...i'll post pictures when they're bigger. thanks any help is appreciated.

i will guess (based on being in shallows, staying near the top) that they will be blackstriped topminnows.

Yeah, pics are needed. "Silvery with a black stripe" is a very popular paint job among small fishes...

You're expecting an ID from those pictures?

Realistically no, just ideas or suggestions.

I'd suggest you dig up a tripod or other structure to stabilize the very best camera you can borrow.
Clean the glass on the tank really well (so the camera won't focus on water spots).
Blast the tank with light (get a 500 watt work light if you have to) and turn off all other light in the room.
Once you have a good photo, look up the drainage you found the fish and provide a list of fish it could be.

I know the last isn't going to be a suggestion you were looking for but it needs to be said....ID fish streamside and not at home. You could take home and endangered species putting the fish, yourself and NANFA at risk by taking unidentified fishes home.

Thanks for the photo-taking help I took as much of that advice as I could at the moment and the photos are, for the most part, a lot better. As far as the Streamside I.D you are right. I really should have taken only pictures left only footprints. I can I.D most of the Special at risk in my area but you are right.
