Its been awhile since I posted anything, been too busy. Here is a shot from a fishing trip last week, specks, a few white trout, and a redfish. Also collected a few fish for our gulf coast show tank, most notably a yoy tripletail (pics soon).

mmmm... fried trout sandwich. That's a nice singlespot red you have there. How did you get the yoy Tripletail? This thread makes me want to switch professions.

Thanks. The tripletail was caught as it floated at the surface like a leaf, it was swept past the dock as we were fishing under the lights at night. Someone said hey, that leaf has eyes and then we dipnetted it.

Yeah... what do you have to do to do something like this (in college etc.)?

I am curious to see how fast that Black fish (triple tail) will grow.

are you planning on keeping it for life or will it eventually go to a public aquarium?

I am working on my masters in marine and enviro. biology, but I do my research in the swamp.

I think I can already see growth in the short time I have had it. I think it is going to grow pretty quick. When it gets large enough I think it will go into the 200 hallway display tank. After it gets too big I may give it to a friend doing research on them, or maybe the aquarium in New Orleans would want it.

yeah but if you work with fish all day you don't need to be able to afford your own tanks... necessarily ;)
