anybody know of a good native fish book that has the basics like water parameters but also habitat, diet, and most useful range/location? not the axelrodi but something a little more in depth. doesnt matter if it has other fish in it but natives are what im concerned with.

Sure, Fishes of (fill in your state here) will have all this information... not every state has one, but most do, and most have this information... put your state and major river drainage in your profile, makes it easier for folks to give meaningful answers to your questions.

Sure, Fishes of (fill in your state here) will have all this information... not every state has one, but most do, and most have this information... put your state and major river drainage in your profile, makes it easier for folks to give meaningful answers to your questions.

You didn't have your location in there before... now that I know you are in Ohio, I can tell yo uthat the Ohio book is one of the "oldies but goodies"... there are not color photos of every fish, but very detailed line drawings and a lot of very good information... and since Ohio is sort of centrally located, there are a lot of good fish in there that are also found in other places... I use my Fishes of Ohio all the time.

as long as the info is there and i can identify the fish its all good with me. i need it to go to hocking hills in southern ohio the last week of august. not really sure what to expect but hopefully its good. ill be sure to get lots of pictures

Michael is right, I regularly use my Fishes of Ohio. We also have such good membership participation in Ohio that we have a veritable walking Fishes of Ohio between their collective brain trust.

Hocking Hills is a great area, we had the NANFAA convention there back in 2001! You can certainly see lots of good fishes in that area! Good luck and let us know about the trip after you get back home!
