since im the process of setting up a native tank, im scoping out local waters for plants and fish that i might want to keep. in castalia i found some baby stickleback, along with about 10000000000000 gammarus and some juvenile large mouth a different stream but still in castalia. i took some moss i found in the streams and took a picture of another plant that i liked but am not sure of what it is either. both were growning in the cold waters of cold creek at the trout hatchery near resthaven.

in a stream on the campus of terra state community college in fremont, i found what i think are johnny darters. i know they are pretty plain looking and common, but i was still excited for my first time catching darters. there were also some bluntnose minnows?

sorry for the bad pics, the girlfriend was with me and was complaining about taking more than 3 pictures and i wasn't trying to piss her off and in turn ruin my day so next time i hope i will get to take some better ones. im planning a trip to look for western banded killies at miller blue hole this week ill post some pics of that here as well.

if anyone can positively id this stuff that would be great :)

im not sure what dam your talking about, but i would really like to know if it means rainbows. what river is it damming? i know the stream is long i just havent driven around to find other entry points. i did see 1 grass pickerel in the stream but he took off before i could get close enough to net him.

The fish are super. Even though the tesselated (or Johnny) darters are plain, you will really enjoy watching their behavior - really fun.
You need to lose the girlfriend though - (doesn't like your fish pics - not good!)
