Hello,

I've got a short trip planned in northwestern Ohio planned for the morning of Thursday, August 12th. I'll be going down to Findlay, OH (20 minutes due south of Bowling Green, OH) with NANFA Member schambers to meet with forum guest star5328. We'll be stopping at the Blanchard River in Findlay, OH for a quick crash course in fish identification and to hone some seining skills. Some of the more interesting fish we'll likely encounter there include;

Suckermouth Minnow (Phenocobius mirabilis)
Redfin Shiner (Lythrurus umbratilis)
Spotfin Shiner (Cyprinella spiloptera)
Brindled Madtom (Noturus miurus)
Northern Longear Sunfish (Lepomis megalotis peltastes)
Rainbow Darter (Etheostoma caeruleum)
Greenside Darter (Etheostoma blennioides)
Fantail Darter (Etheostoma flabellare)
Logperch Darter (Percina caprodes)
Blackside Darter (Percina maculata)

Then, we'll be off in search of our main target species, the Grass Pickerel (Esox americanus vermiculatus) in drainage ditches in the area. My favorite of the ditches frequently contains these fishes worth noting;

Silverjaw Minnow (Notropis buccata)
Redfin Shiner (Lythrurus umbratilis)
Creek Chubsucker (Erimyzon oblongus)
Tadpole Madtom (Noturus gyrinus)
Grass Pickerel (Esox americanus vermiculatus)
Central Mudminnow (Umbra limi)
Northern Longear Sunfish (Lepomis megalotis peltastes)
Orangethroat Darter (Etheostoma spectabile)

If you're interested in attending, please PM me by Wednesday evening.

Wish I would have seen this early, or rather that is was posted earlier. There are a couple fish in there that I would love to be able to find as they are non-existant or uncommon in my corner of the state. Namely the Chubsucker and Tadpole Madtom, and I would really like to get a female Northern Longear for my male.

I may be hitting you up later in September!

Andy

*sighs* Of course I see this now. Oh well.

Does anybody know if you're allowed to collect plants and stuff from the Shaker Lakes in Shaker Heights?

Haha...and we saw all three, albeit only one tadpole madtom. I had a blast, learned a lot.
