The Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) is searching for an outgoing, network-oriented individual to serve as a Technical and Outreach Specialist, working out of our offices in Ann Arbor, MI. GLOS was established to provide public access to critical, real‐time and historical information about the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and interconnecting waterways for use in managing, safeguarding and understanding these freshwater resources. GLOS is focused on identifying and meeting user needs and therefore GLOS staff work closely with Great Lakes users.

The Technical and Outreach Specialist will report to the Executive Director. Approximately 50 percent of the incumbent’s time will be focused on cultivating Great Lakes resource managers and decision-makers who currently use or could benefit from modeling to support decision‐making and connecting this group with the diverse Great Lakes physical, chemical and biological modeling community.

Approximately 50 percent of the incumbent’s time will be focused on outreach to GLOS members and others in the user community that could benefit from GLOS products and services, coordinating or conducting user needs assessment, working with specific user groups to identify new tools and refine existing products and tools.

The incumbent in this position will operate in a collaborative environment involving public agencies, academia and a range of stakeholder groups.
