Hi folks, the name is Mike. I'm from Southwestern Connecticut. My main interest is herpetology and I am an avid Field Herper and photographer. Buuuuuut I am a freshwater fish nerd from way back.

In the early / mid 90's I was huge into Native Fishes and I still have my worn and tattered copy of the freshwater Petersons guide. That book spent a lot of time on gravely and muddy banks while I snorkeled and stood hunched over with a dip net. Those were fun times that I really miss.

I did have a native tank that a friend and I set up back then. I had such species as bridle shiners, american eel and Lepomis sp. We even netted a stickleback (species unknown) at one point and that was an interesting fish to watch.

I'd like to get back into this hobby. I was a member here a while back but there was very little activity. I see it has picked up a lot in the last 5 or 6 years.

I look forward to picking up where i left off!

Hello and welcome back, Mike! I'm a herp-and-fish guy, too; they're two great tastes that taste great together.

Mike, good to see you here also. There seems to be alot of fish-herp people out there and a few FHF cross-overs.

Hey Andy. Your post on FHF inspired me to come back here and break out my old field guides. I might go check out a couple creeks this weekend.
