Salary: Annual stipend of $12,000 and full waiver of tuition and fees.

Closing: Until filled

Responsibilities: Participate in development of a Structured Decision Making model to manage natural resources below Tim s Ford Dam on the Elk River, Tennessee. In addition to addressing requirements for dam operations, the model will take into account recreational fishing and enhancement of several endangered species. M.S. student will develop a field study to address critical information needs for the Boulder darter Etheostoma wapiti.

Qualifications: B.S. in fisheries science, aquatic ecology, or related field. GRE scores V Q 1,000 and GPA 3.0 required.

I guess they wouldn't give me a Masters for recommending getting rid of Tim's Ford Dam, thus improving habitat for both boulder and ashy darters and the native mussel fauna... But seriously this would be an interesting research project even without that recommendation.

An excellent opportunity for the right person! You would be in a beautiful part of the country, time and opportunity to explore. Earn your masters. Fees paid. What about lodging, room & board? Tough to live on 12k. Dorm & meal plan included?

Nope. But you would get health insurance as part of it. It wouldn't be a good time to buy that new 4WD truck. Graduate school is very old fashioned, hard work for almost no pay. No wonder fewer and fewer Americans are willing to go to grad school!
