erythristic sculpin

Got the fish below mixed in with a couple dozen normally colored sculpin (one shown for comparison) today, somewhere in the central Appalachians. I've seen a lot of weird sculpin coloration before (usually associated with odd substrates or stress), but this was pretty unusual...

Neat! Don't some of the marine sculpins have red morphs?

Unusual looking fish, scupins are on of my fav fishes for sure.

Wow, thanks for sharing -- If anyone deserves to run across a rare Cottus pigmentation, it's you! I haven't seen an erythristic fish photo in quite some time; however, it seems herps have a higher frequency of erythrisms and anerythrisms (or photographed more).
