I've never treated any of my bowfin for parasites - the juveniles ARE loaded with them but mine are older fish - maybe start at 6" or so and you'll be OK. The only problem I've had is incipient fin rot in newly collected specimens, and salt does the trick for that. No danger of creating super fin rot by using salt!

Ok, but I'm going to have to be getting them around 3 inches so they'll still have space while I'm renovating my pond, so should I just treat with salt and keep other treatments on hand just in case?I've never treated any of my bowfin for parasites - the juveniles ARE loaded with them but mine are older fish - maybe start at 6" or so and you'll be OK.
