Hey guys, I caught this fish when throwing my net for gizzard shad. It was a creed full of shad and golden shiners, right below a pond in central VA. It has a shiner body, but the mouth of a filter feeding gizzard. What is it?

He's dead, Jim. Seriously, what happened to that fish? Looks like it interacted with a flamethrower after having a baseball bat treatment. But it looks more gizzard like than golden like to me.
