So I took a video of Eli on Christmas....never posted it in here so here it is.

And apparently the wild population was concerned about the oil spill:

Can you describe your basic setup? Tank size, filtration, also, what do you do to secure the tank. I understand the eels are notorious escape artists!

Thanks.

Set up is a 50 gallon tank with quikrete all purpose sand and creek sand. Filtered by a Hydro Sponge V and a Whisper 20 i from the old tank(to help filter as bacteria builds on the sponge filter). The sponge filter is powered by a Tetra Air Pump for up to 300 gallons.

To prevent escape, the lids are weighted down and the water level is lowered.

Ahh, thanks. I'm considering setting up my own eel tank this summer. I used to just think of them as striper bait, but your videos on them have
got me to thinking of them as the interesting critters they are.

LOL - Eel drive!

They are incredibly fascinating creatures. I still try and research as much as I can about them...they're fun to learn about! I just can't wait till mine stops being shy!

If they're anything like a jeweled moray eel, then they are cool fish. Sadly my only experience with them is as bait stealers when catfishing with night crawlers.
