My rock bass is about 3 inches long and has turned a bit piscivorous. (with the recent die off fish vanishing became easier to notice, then I tested him with feeder guppies and he readilly ate them).

With my big fish tank at its max of sunnies, I was wondering how it would do in with my banded killifish. The killies are a bit larger than he is and quite agressive. I am not sure if he'd survive (but likely rule out any further killi breeding) or get harrassed to death.

for your case, I hope it would work out, but if the killie can fit in its mouth, I would think the rockbass would try to eat it. I netted a rockbass last year that was 3" TL and it had a 2.5" stickleback sticking out of its mouth (still able to move its tail as if swimming.) One of the weirdest things I had seen last year.

I used to use black nosed dace & banded killies as bait while fishing to catch rock bass & trout in the perkiomen creek here in PA. Rockbass are cool, especially the males since they have those blood red eyes.

I realize the trouble of a big hungry rockbass, but when the rock bass is still smaller than the killies will they give him trouble?

Banded killies are very nasty fish. They eat species too big to fit in their mouth by killing them and breaking them into bite size bits.

i have never kept nor seen banded killies in person.

If they are as mean as you say, and the rockbass doesn't have hiding spots, I think you would have an issue. Now if you provide a few rock caves at the bottom for him to escape to if being harassed, i would think it SHOULD work.
