Went collecting today for the first time in about a year. and I believe I found a massive school of what i believe is Dorosoma cepedianum??? but the creek gets the run off from my parent's lake and I didn't think that these were native fish to my area. The creek runs into the Ochlocknee River. Maybe you guys can help me out and confirm this? Are they good aquarium fish?[attachment=11381:SDC15171.JPG]

sure looks like a shad to me.and no they are not good for a tank life.
they are very fragile and feeding them is not worth the trouble.

I'll guess threadfin shad, but yes it could be a little gizzard. Shad cannot deal with square corners. If you have an oval tub, or if you glue panes in each corner of a rectangular tank (making an octagon) then they might do OK. The other thing about shad is to transfer them quickly and gently from net to cooler with minimal fright and stress. Holding them by the tail is not advisable if you're hoping to get them home alive.

Never tried keeping them, but isn't feeding them fairly difficult as well?

Makes great catfish bait. But they have a reputation for being difficult to keep even temperarily in a bait tank.
