hi.
I've been keeping tropical fish for a few decades now. I recently thought maybe I could save some money by losing the heater, and started researching. Here's where it led me. Well, here and my fathers pond.
We have no idea what fish are in there so it'll be interesting to find out what's going on in the not so deep depths and maybe get a keeper or two.
those I keep, if any, will go into a 90G with a Whisper powered undergravel filter with about 4 inches medium sized, natural looking gravel. there's some stone caves, and the beginning of a vallisneria americana (I think) forest.
If I don't come across something to take home, I've noticed zimmerman's fish has some nice looking centrarchidae.

welcom to the forum! Zimmerman's is a good place to order through. I got some orangespots a few years back from him and was extremely happy. Jonah's also has a lot of nice fish as well. I know Zimmerman's fish are all raised by him, so the fish are typically not wild caught, and I believe (correct me if I am wrong guys) Jonah's fish are wildcaught?

Good luck with the searching of the pond! my friend's parents recently bought a large lot of land with a pond in the middle, we seined the whole thing to come up with some topminnows (blackstiped) and a very small group (10 fish for so) of a species of sunfish (wasn't able to ID, and they were all under 2" so I suspect they were introduced?)

anyways, enjoy the plunge into natives.
