care of a blue fin... how do i get this guy to color up and what do i feed him?

How big is it? If it is a female, it won't. If it is a male, it will eventually on good food. I got mine to color up feeding FD bloodworms (from Avid Aquatics) and live blackworms.

The last time we discussed this (including identifying the fish) we concluded with it is a female.
I have not seen a pic of your newest one but just follow as Drew just posted. If it does not color up it is not a male.

nah no i have a school of six and i know one is a male.. his coloration is just not bright and pretty like ive seen in most pictures... he is about 2 inches one is 1.5 and 4 an inch when will i tell for the other 5 if male of female?

In my case, you will start seeing red coloration in the caudal fin. Only one of my remaining males has color on the other fins. Good food, clean water, and you will start seeing the bright coloration you see in pics.

The appearance is affected by the angle the light strikes the fish, in pictures using flash the color will appear more intense than just looking into a tank with top lighting.

Try looking with a flashlight when the tank is fairly dark.
