Shame CA laws don't seem to allow private hobbyists to keep natives legally.

I remember seeing one of those on a tv special. Real territorial critters. They'll open they're mouth as wide as possible to threaten another over a hiding spot. They have big mouths. I cant remember its name anymore.

People say if a fish can fit inside another fishes mouth it will end up their. Does this mean this fish has no likely tank mates?

Yes pickerel of the same size are not good together. I had two similar sized ones each attack the other by the tail end. At first they were both swallowing each other at about the same rate, but one made several sudden unmatched gulps and completely overtook the other. Unfortunately in his greed he kept going devouring the rest of himself still sticking out his attackers mouth. This is true - I had two pickerel once, about the same size. One day they were both gone. What happened was, they ate eat other. Let that be a lesson.

Thanks, I'll definitely try that next time. This is what I love about this forum. There's always someone with a solution for any problem.Next time this happens, catch him before he is totally gone and turn him inside out! That's what I do when this happens and I generally get both fish back!
