I'm a big native char(Salvelinus)fan specializing in indigneous, wild Brook Trout(Salvelinus Fontinalis). I dont' see any forums dedicated to them or, any other salmoniform. I have thousands of pictures, many years experiance studying and capturing (via fishing) them. Would it be possible to create a forum here for discussion of the species? If not and the concentration is on warm or coolwater species that's OK but would like to know.

Thanks

I think our interests certainly include the fishes you are talking about... feel free to join us... and start threads in the following sub-forum. While it is not just dedicated to salmonids (really just based on volume at this point) it certainly includes a few good brook trout discussions. And we would love to have some one here that knows even more than we can all learn from and with.

We had to choose the more popular fish Families to created dedicated forums for. In the early days of the forum, I believe we had more, but consolidated the less used ones into "All Others".

You can post your photos in the 'Photo & Video Gallery' and any other information in the 'All Others'.

And welcome to the forum!

Though brook trout live closer to me than any other fish I never tried keeping them as trout (from what I heard) tend to require a chiller and chillers are expensive.
