Are they any more inappropriate than the accepted common name of Halichoeres bivittatus


I've always wondered how that one got through the AFS Committee on Names, but yes, these are definitely more inappropriate.

Just learned that in NW Wisconsin, redhorse are sometimes called St. Croix Salmon.
I call orangespotted sunfish "imaginary" as well as a lot of names I can't share in mixed company.

Yeah, there is the tonguefish - another name spoken by fishermen cannot be repeated here. But it is...similar to your example.
