Hi i was wondering if anyone can help with a query that a friend who manages a retail outlet has come across with the red shiner in his shop. They arrive fit and healthy from a reputable wholesaler but after a couple of weeks one or two of the fish begin to have a hole appear right next to their anal fin and eventually you can see right through this hole. The fish are still feeding and swimming for a few days then die.I am somewhat at a loss and curious if anyone has heard of this or even seen it and the best possible treatment.

Never heard of that. I have seen red in the fins which is usually a water quality issue, but a hole....nope, never seen that.

I think I'd want to see a picture of the fish before I say anything.
