Hello,

I'm Frank. I am biologist and Ichthyologist and I am a leading member of a German hobbyist-organisation for fishes of the temperate climatic zones of the world "AKFS".

http://www.akfs-online.de/

We are a not a very big organisation, but we are the only one in Germany and in Europe too, there are not many else.

We are interested in and we are keeping fishes from Europe, North America, the northern Asian region or southern South America. Very popular are for example the North American Killies (Fundulus, Cyprinodon, or Darters and Lepomis species ...), the Eurasian Aphanius species and many else. So I think in this aspect NANFA und the AKFS share the same interest.

I have written - of corse in German language - a book about 75 so called "cold water fishes" of the world, a detailed book of about 450 pages.

The reason, why I contact you is that I am serching some good and printable pictures of some North American species and I want to know, if there is someboby in your organisation who like to help me to get these pictures.

I don't know the situation in the US, but here, a book like this will not be sold in million coppies. So it is more an enthusiasts work, a more or less non-profit project. And therefore I can't offer you big money for the pictures. Every picture-author will be cited ! Further modalities we can talk about, if somebody of you likes to cooperate with me.

I hope to hear from you !

Frank

Frank,

We have several great photographers here on the forum. Have you looked at the "NANFA Gallery"... see it is right there on the title bar... there might be pictures there that you would like... and that would let you know which photographer to contact.

Are you looking for portraits (just the fish) or pictures in the natural habitat?

My fish are Elassoma gilberti.

Quote from the species description paper: http://biology.unm.e...et al. 2009.pdf
"Elassoma gilberti is distinguished from its close relative E. okefenokee by possessing four pores in the preopercular (PO) canal on each side of the head and usually seven anal fin rays. Elassoma okefenokee has three PO pores and usually eight anal fin rays. Elassoma gilberti has slightly less deep body and slightly smaller dorsal and anal fins than E. okefenokee. Breeding females of E. gilberti often have blue dashes below and behind the eye, which are lacking in female E. okefenokee. Otherwise, the two species are almost identical or broadly overlapping in meristic, morphometric, and color features."
