Hello all,
I've been away from nanfa (and fish) for a couple years now. Things have finally calmed down to the point I can get back in the hobby!
As the title states I am looking for bowfin and gar in NE Ohio. I have heard bowfin are along lake erie. As such, I have been out fishing for them and attempted netting up in the vegetation and also setting a minnow trap for small bowfin. No luck with any of it.
Does anyone have any advice on where to find them? I am willing to travel to PA if need be.
Thanks guys - it's great to be back!
Mark

Baby bowfin are scarce unless you can find a pod of fry. Then you'll likely get more than you need. Short of that the best strategy is to fish hook and line. I know a good spot in michigan. But killbuck marsh is good, and as i understand it, sandusky bay. They are quite common but can be picky about habitat requirements. Message me about going after some. It's a target species of mine.
