Hi Folks,

I ran across a series of photos I took this winter and then promptly forgot about. These are some fish that Nate Tessler gave me from FL when he was moving around, and some flagfish I added to the one he gave me. Thought I would share.

Jordanella floridae - Flagfish (real pain in the butt to photo in this tank with all the veg!)

Male Fundulus lineolatus - Lined Topminnow

Melanistic Fundulus chrysotus - Golden Topminnow

Maybe some day I'll have time and space and permission with my permit to keep other native stuff at home (I'm really missin' my 100 gal Ohio R tank!). But for now, this will do. Hope you enjoyed!

Todd

What camera do you use? Those are very sharp photos

...never mind the camera, lets talk about glass cleaner!

I assumed the glass cleaner was Sprayway, it's the best

I think there's something more to the glass cleaner comments, so I'll just let that go...

The camera body is a Nikon D60. But I was also using a 150mm macro lense and had a speed flash on an extention cable so I could place the light where I wanted it. In short, complicated :)

And just in case there wasn't anything to it... If by glass cleaner, you mean some of the spotting, that's light getting caught in the glass from shooting at too oblique an angle. The glass was actually cleaned (with water) this time :P

I was just being a smart @$$... imagine that... because whenever I try to take these kind of in-tank pictures I always end up photographing water spots and that strange red algae that I get.... it was actually meant as more of a compliment to how clear these pictures were.

Haha, yeah, I just assume that it was about water spots because usually I'm the WORST about it :)

Thanks for sharing, Todd. I am going through a bit of tank withdrawal (it's almost been a whole year since I had to take 'em down). I'm glad to see my fishes went on to greener pastures. Are those Alafia shiners still kickin'? At one time, I think Brady Porter was looking for some life history characteristics for that species. Perhaps max age (even if it's been in an aquarium) could be of some use to him.

Yep, I think I lost one initially, but the rest of what made it through the move is still rockin'. About ready to do another val harvest so I can see them all again :)

Nice Shiners. I've never heard of them before. How are you keeping them?

Tank is a 30 long, (2) 40 watt lamps, filter is an Ehiem 2017. I used sand and peat mixed with a little gravel and some carbonate sand for substrate, and didn't go as deep as I have in the past. I use RO water because my they lime the heck out of our water to settle out mud (it was pH 9.2 and gH 90 a few weeks back).

Here's a pic before a harvest:

Good luck finding any fish in there. I have to sit and wait when it's like that lol.

They eat anything you feed them. Much easier to keep than their highly sought blue nosed bretheren. Much less in trouble too.
