Hello everyone, it's nice to find a group of people interested in native fishes. I've been hooked on them since I was about 6 years old. I was at the creek every chance I got for several years, and am looking to get back into it. I grew up right outside of Decatur, IL - not exactly a tourist destination if you've never heard of it - and currently live in St. Louis, MO. Just set up a 55 gallon aquarium that I plan to dedicate to natives and look forward to learning a lot from these forums, it really seems like there is a wealth of information here!

Right on! I actually grew up just to the East of Decatur not too far from Reas Bridge. There are some geodesic dome homes out that way that look like sort of like igloos that I spent the better part of 15 years at until my parents moved. There is a little creek that winds around behind there that I might as well have been fastened to. Caught darters, minnows, crawdads, etc. but never really thought to try to identify the species - I would love to go back sometime to see exactly what we were catching back then.
