Would it be a good idea to introduce blackstripe topminnows and rainbow darters to a tank that has an alligator snapping turtle? Would the topminnows and darters survive?

I intern at a small nature center that has an alligator snapping turtle. When we feed it I occasionally get a chance to watch it hunt. They don't just passively stick out the lure and wait for food, when they are hungry enough they slowly walk toward the food, and given a chance grab it. I would say topminnows and darters would last in a tank longer than minnows, but I still see them being eaten. However, I've never tried it so I can't tell you for sure.

Yes, it is always a good idea to keep you alligator snapping turtle well fed. He may have to work harder for those fundulus, might help keep him in shape.

I think the only turtles that MIGHT coexist sucessfully with fish would be spotted turtles or the mud/musk turtles. I have had stinkpots of various sizes and they are much less like hunters than any other turtle I have seen. That being said, I have still watched them snatch the occasional shiner that got too close.
