Welcome to NANFA! This is Jim, right? Hi, it's Erica.
Here are the two NANFA forum subsections with trip reports and photos from when people went out collecting.
http://forum.nanfa.o...9-trip-reports/ and http://forum.nanfa.o...orum/137-south/
The collecting techniques subforum is here: http://forum.nanfa.o...-sampling-gear/

You can see my most recent failed trip report here: http://forum.nanfa.o...weekend/ which I why I recommended you to the NANFA people. I'm a good fish keeper, but I kind of fail when it comes to catching them. XD

Gerald Pottern, our North Carolina regional representative, is very knowledgeable about where to find darters. Check out the very last post of http://forum.nanfa.o...12/page__st__20 for a report of the species we all found this past Sunday.

Town Fork Creek just north of Rural Hall is a good stream for catching Johnny, Fantail, and Roanoke darters, possibly a couple others, mainly in shallow cobble and gravel habitats. A small seine or stright-edged dipnet usually works. Get them quickly from net to bucket (or cooler) without handling, especially in warm weather. Feed darters live food at first. Some will adapt to frozen or dry foods after they settle in to aquarium life.
