Hello Everyone. I have an odd request. I'm putting together a photo book of wildlife I've photographed over the past couple of years. I can id most of what I've photographed but need some help with the spiders. As an fyi I'm a borderline arachnophobic but for some reason when I'm taking pictures of them I don't mind getting close to them for the pictures

When attempting to identify spider families a detailed pic of the eyes is very important:

If you want a species level ID you need a microscope and the actual specimen.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that complex. The chances of me getting that close to a spider are slim and none. If I had one of those mini tripods I might trying putting my camera to full zoom and doing a digital zoom, hmm that might be worth trying

Thanks Skipjack, yeah those things do get huge. The spider in the first picture was a monster.

Going by the size, number and position of the eyes the 2 I thought were Wolf spiders are Wolf spiders.

I think the first one is a Six-Spotted Fishing Spider. Cool photos!

You're right it is a six spot I miscounted the spots. Glad you like the pictures. I flip a lot of rocks along the waters edge and in shallow water so I tend to run into a lot of spiders and more then a few snakes. I'd love to get more snake pictures but they don't tend to stick around when I flip over their rocks.
