Hello everyone. I just wanted introduce myself and say I'm glad to be here. I run an aquarium program for the East Bay Regional Park District, including a 1500 gallon mobile fish exhibit. The goal of the program to display and educate about all the freshwater species of fish found in the greater San Francisco Bay area. When not on public display, we have our fish housed in a behind scences 2000 gallon holding system. Our current collection includes:

large and smallmouth bass
white sturgeon
white catfish
channel catfish
brown bullheads
rainbow trout
common carp (& released koi)
wild goldfish
Sacramento blackfish
California roach
bigscal logperch
prickly sculpin
western mosquito fish
signal, northern, and red swamp crayfish
threes-spined stickleback
assorted sunfish including: bluegill, green sunfish, redear sunfish, hybrids of the 3, black crappie, Sacramento perch, warmouth, & pumpkinseed

We're also looking to add several more species as well. We also perform periodic fish surveys and bass tagging programs. When not busy with that, I also look after the six saltwater aquariums located in our Crab Cove visitor center. I look forward to learning a lot more from the forum community and sharing great photos with everyone. Speaking of which here are some photos, including a nice bluegill/green sunfish hybrid, a carp/goldfish hybrid, a bluegill/redear sunfish hybrid, and some of our rainbow trout. Enjoy!

If anyone is visiting from anywhere else in the country, come to Alameda, which is next to Oakland, across from San Francisco. Go down to the end of Webster Street and turn right for a block or two and look for the signs for Crab Cove. There's lots of free parking and the Visitor Center is free. Then walk outside and get a look at the beach which is mostly gravel. If you walk along the path, you'll see that on high tide, the Bay comes in and swamps the path and on the land side of the path, you'll see little crabs and maybe some little fish in the micro-tide pools that are left.

There are some very nice barbecue grills there and there's a CVS five minutes away where you can get some charcoal and hot dogs and sodas if you want to be spontaneous. But there are also quite a few fast-food places on Webster Street as you head down to the Visitor Center.

There's a bait shop on Central near McKay within a block or two and you can surf cast for perch, flounder, and striped bass (correct me if I've left any species out, EBParks) from the shore. I hope you can see this google map: Crab Cove Visitor Center.

I am embarrassed to say but I live about 1000 yards away but only get down there once or twice a year. If anyone of you NANFA folks are visiting here, tweet KennFong1 or write KennATKennFong.com and I'd love to say hello and have a Coke or a Foster's Freeze with you (it's up the block from the Visitor's Center). If you need directions, click the Google map link and you'll find what you need. (I can also recommend some good spots to visit in San Francisco too.)

Yeah as soon as I get my memebrship verified I'll post some image albums. I'm still just listed as a guest and can't seem to acces that option, unless I'm just missing something. If that's the case please feel free to clue me in.
