Attached File  028.JPG   110.5KB   2 downloads Can anyone tell me what kind of sunfish this is or what it might be as far as a hybrid. It was caught along with a few others in the Grand River near Portland, Michigan.

Looks like a northern longear. Red on ear tab like found on redear to south and pumpkinseed that also occurs in Michigan assuming that is where you caught it. Otherwise it is more similar to longear sunfish occuring further south.

Thanks for the help Mike and Centrarchid. I posted the photo on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources page and they tryed to tell me it was a pumpkinseed.I've caught enough of those over the years to know it had to be something else.

The red eartab lead me to think p-seed at first glance, but the rest of the fish could only be longear.
