Hehe, good point Harry. Monitoring should actually get better, now that the state can follow the Fed's lead. As for enforcement, that is another can of worms (one that other people are paid to open).
I should mention that NANFA was among the first organizations to fund the research that went into this petition. Also, more than one NANFAns submitted letters in support of the petition. Right on NANFA!
I am so glad that USFWS was able to look at the science involved here, rather than get pushed around by politicians and money-huggers. There is likely to be very little support from public representatives at the state or county level, so to see this go through really renews my faith in our government (I know, it sounds like I am being sarcastic, but I am not..... Matt

I thank Mike and the CBD's lawyers for keeping the pressure on USFWS. Otherwise, like Mike said, there's no protection for the species since local and state government would never do anything (although I know non-game biologists of the state who would do what they could).

Congradulations Mike Sandel and Noah Greenwald! This just goes to show that a few dedicated individuals with the facts on their side can get something done in our government.

I did note that NANFA was mentioned specifically in it. Makes me feel good that a member has brought about such an important act of protection for such a helpless little fish.
