These were captured in the Cumberland River basin in Tennessee. Looking to hear some opinions on identification please.

Yep, it's a minnow for sure.

Looks like Chrosomus to me. Hope it isn't cumberlandensis, or if it is, that you didn't take it home...

Looks very suspiciously like C. cumberlandensis. You might not want this photo on here...

As noted in the other thread about Arrow darters, this fish was released after being photographed. kybatman and co-workers have state and federal permits for this work, and were looking for confirmation of ID.

I wish the photo would have turned out a little better. Forgot the plastic tank in the truck. They were lacking several Blackside dace characteristics.

Even only having seen just a few in the wild while assisting with some C. cumberlandensis research I would still tend to agree with Dave. The pool of potential species, particularly cyprindids, in those streams is fairly small relative the larger systems in the drainage.

I'm beginning to think a decent photo tank should be a requirement for obtaining a scientific collecting permit.
A Critter Keeper isn't much better than a bag unless you can get the fish's head away from the corners, which is not easy. I just love that duck-billed darter in your other post ! |;>)

Photos deleted until some more suitable ones are taken. Thanks for the input!
