A LFS rescue. Very active and adjusted.

Very hard to tell from that photo. But if it came from a LFS, I'd bet bluegill.

Thanks, he is pretty dark and less red than the pic. Verticle stripes with a eye spot on dorsal and blue green stripe on the gill plate.

He looks like a green to me.

I would go with Green also. I see them regularly cone in with feeder goldfish shipments.

He's very cool and already a tiny bully. I guess my sucker will be safe. Its pretty big and still growing. My seminole killie better start growing or I'll have to move it. And the gambusia, oh well.

Allow me to place a vote for Martin (Irate Mormon) in favor of "green sunfish". They always are.

I tried to clean up the colors a bit.

I think the mouth size suggests it is a green. yum yum - Gambusia.

It is a green. They become very efficient predatotors.

Uland, maybe you missed it, but the OP said that it was in a feeder tank at a LFS.

Yeah, feeder tank rescue. Over a period of 2 days I got 5 least killies, 1 seminole killi and this sunfish. Pretty happy.

Wow. No offense but a pretty clueless LFS huh?

Yes but if you get lucky you can sometimes get a cool, hard to find (locally) fish for cheap.

Don't know if you've noticed but most LFS employees are pretty clueless. I check the feeder tanks almost every time I go just in case.
