I'm not 100% sure Jim... I think it is an unused system of telling you that you are doig something wrong. If you would like we could experiment with it. I could "warn" you. And we could see if it addsa point to you... kinda like getting demerits in school I think.
OK, looked a little deeper and it seems that...
Apparently it will let me warn a member for certian "bad behaviours" including:
And then lets me add additional "punishment" like topic moderation and things like that...
I think we have had (fortunately) few enough of this type of problem that we ahve handled much of this one on one instead of in an automated tool...

- spaming
- bad language
- signature violation (dont really know what that means)
- abusive behaviour (kinda general in my mind)
- topic bumping
- other

Yeah, the system is used a lot on other internet forums. The warning points are sometimes called infraction points. As a mod you can typically apply temporary or permanent infraction points. If you get enough points you can be banned, temp-banned or perma-banned. Seems like there aren't too many trouble makers around here though.
