I came across this on Stumbleupon. Obviously these genetic oddities should exist in nature, but the chance of catching such a freak are astronomical. Do you guys think this is natural or caused by some man made factor such as a hermaphrodite fish caused by birth control?

(trying to be helpful; original link didn't work due to presence of slash sign at end of it)
I wish I could have seen it swim.

to me it looks like a second fish was cut up and placed along side. I am with Isaac, this picture is a fake.
I had this picture emailed to me from a friend about 10 or so years ago. At that time it claimed to be from the Ottertail River in Minnesota. I agree it looks like the smaller fish either had its head tucked into the gill cover of the larger one or had it removed and the body just pushed underneath it.

Could be a Photoshop prank but it might be real. If real, it looks like the second fish is a parasite to the original that looks dominant and complete. The second fish shares a blood supply which keeps it alive but contributes nothing to the survival. This is a strong fish so it might be able to feed and drag the parasite around with it and survive.
