Hey Guys, I am looking for some streams/rivers with easy access to sample/photograph some Sculpin. I know there are some Mottleds in the area, but I have no idea where to find them. Does anyone know of any place in SE Wisconsin (near Waukesha is best) where I could sample/collect/photograph some sculpins? I used the DNR collections maps, but most of the spots are coming up as no water in the area.. hmm. Thanks,

Try zooming in on the WDNR site. When you zoom in all the way the small streams appear, which makes sense since mottled sculpin live in very small streams.

I've caught some west of Madison, but it sounds like that's too far away.

The streams in the hills about an hour west of Madison are full of mottled sculpin and brook stickleback. Very easy to find. I'd like to go hunting for slimy sculpin, but I remember reading somewhere that some of the WDNR data was based on wrong identification (they were actually mottled). I'm hoping to find some locations that only have slimy sculpin so I don't waste a trip looking in the wrong spots.
