One thing I noticed reading up on post glacial fish distribution was hints that salmonoids, due to cold water and salt tolerance, were among the first to settle in formerly glaciated areas. (often taking different routes from later fish). This also lead them to be more likely to form subspecies than other fish as they were among the earliest to get isolated from other populations. (though if minnows started diverging in New England ponds, the lack of non game records combined with the impact of stocking game fish would have erased the evidence).
So i was wondering, how much of a head start did trout get?
