Due to the drought, some normally very turbid waters have become unusually clear. This is what fisheries workers in Oklahoma saw in the Arkansas River (shovelnose sturgeon, shorthead redhorse, big sauger, stripers, flathead catfish and tens of thousands of channel catfish):

Very cool to see some of these big river fish that are usually difficult to find in clear water. Nice job on the video edit. When were these videos taken?

Well done BB! Very nicely edited. Clear shots and nice tunes.

That is really really cool. What an abundance of fish! Roughly how deep was the water where this was filmed?

Excellent Brandon thanks! Have looked at some of your other films too and was equally impressed. Loved the stoneroller film, and all those channel cats!

Isaac - Thanks for the encouragement! The Ark river footage was taken in mid Dec. It's rare to have clear water on the Arkansas and we didn't expect to see much, but were blown away by what was there.

I've long admired you pics from the Ozarks.

Kanus - Thanks! We estimated the channel catfish school to be in the tens of thousands. It's the third time we've observed channel catfish schooling in the winter and I'm starting to think it may be more common than we think. Max depth was neck deep, but that said, in OK our big rivers tend to be pretty wide, sandy and shallow, so neck deep is relatively deep for some of these systems.
