Hey guys, so I just saw this on Aquabid and was wondering, what kind of Pickerel is this? Also, just to assist, the guy's account says he's from Florida.

Not sure if this helps, but this is a grass pickerel from Illinois for reference.

He's calling it a Redfin, and I can agree with that. If you can find out exactly where he caught it you can be sure. He's in FL, and FL has an area where Redfin and Grass Pickerel ranges overlap, so an intergrade is possible. That's why collection info is so important in this case.

I would agree that it's E. americanus. Not sure about the florida intergrade situation, but it's not going to be a tank buster. Chains look similar when young, but the snout length is a good giveaway when you've compared them side by side.

I got bored and looked up Astatula FL where the seller is located. If he caught it locally it's 100% a Redfin. He's smack dab in the middle of FL and the overlap occurs in the panhandle. I'd still ask him where he got it..
