I got my new camera last week a Canon T3 that came with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens and since I saved some money by buying an older model I picked up a used Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM telephoto lens. It's a little cold for sampling in NJ so I went to a really cool little park in Bucks county PA called Ringing Rock park. There is a large boulder field and a stream with a waterfall so I had plenty of photo subjects.

Boulder field, it gets its name because some of the boulder will make a ringing sound when struck by a hammer. It sounds like a hammer hitting an anvil.

So between the 2 lenses I can take the kind of landscapes I want especially since I downloaded a great panorama making program from Microsoft called Image Composite Editor(ICE) and I've already made a couple of nice panoramas. Now I had to see if I could take good wildlife pictures so I found some salamanders willing to pose for some photographs.

My favorite panorama so far

Some cooperative(or just cold and not in the mood to run) salamanders

I picked up a 4x5 on eBay, looking for an enlarger now for cheap.

I bought my wife one of those camera's for Christmas. She bought another lens too. I've used it to take photos of my aquarium. It's a very nice camera, it so much easier to get good photos with that over my point & shoot.

At first glance those salamanders in the bottom photo really look like earthworms. Great photos!

Yeah with those thick tails they can look like a worm real easy, not sure what species they are, I have a guide for reptiles and amphibians for NJ but can't quite figure them out. THe other pseices looks to be a Red Backed salamander.

I agree on the red backed. Aren't the others Jefferson's?

That's what I'm thinking Skipjack either that or they are Northern Spring Salamanders. Both species aren't supposed to be in the location I caught them in though, their range is supposed to be a bit further north. Given the size of NJ though that only means about 10-20 miles outside of their range.
