I want to be careful here, and not turn this into an advertisement, but Omega One did respond to our request and did donate some stuff (their food) to the convention auction. Plus I would love to have some of the great photographers here... and some of the great native fish out there... get some recognition. So I thought that I would pass along this link, that Omega One sent to me about their photo contest. If any of you decide to enter, maybe post your pictures here as well.

Did they send this to you recently? I found out about this a while back and absolutely wanted to participate and then noted this:

"Deadline
Contest ends August 1st, 2012. Any entries submitted after that time will not be considered. "

I was very disappointed to see that I had missed out...

Yes, they just sent it this week. And check out the website link... it says August 1st, 2013... maybe they do this every year... says they are going to use the winning pictures in their calendar?

Maybe its their typo. I definitely quoted that from the link attached to your first post. But it does say 2014 calendar. I will enter then.

I see what you are saying now Derek... its different... in the HOW TO ENTER it says 2013... in the DEADLINE it says 2012... I agree it is probably a typo... wonder if they did this last year and reused the rules...???

Hmm. I didn't read that part. Hmm. That's a little bit worrysome. Let me think.

Later:
I've decided I'm still okay with that.
1) I have other photos of the species, and can take an unlimited amount more if I order more fish (they're $40 on aquabid).
2) It really would be nice to get some attention for the species.
3) Odds are low Omega One will choose Elassoma gilberti; I never got mine to thrive on flake food.
4) $250 is a lot of money to me; I am poor.
5) Can I say this twice? Making Elassoma gilberti more famous would make me really happy.

I think some of our photographers should jump all over this. We have several really really good fish & underwater photographers here.

That link seems to be broken. New link: http://www.omegasea....nners-announced

Yeah, I was hoping my Elassoma gilberti would get chosen, but it didn't. Oh well. Maybe next year more people will enter native fish.
