Since the panel Discussion has been cancelled and I had this almost ready to submit as an American Currents article. I decided to post it "as is", to possibly help any newbies planning on bringing home some natives from Kentucky. Keep in mind I may be a bit over the top in my collecting habits so use what fits your personality. You can do quite well with less effort by just making sure you have the basics covered. Also there are many ways to cover those basics so perhaps others can throw out their preferences as well. I still plan on submitting this to AC in a more finished form. Hopefully it can help those attending the convention. Attached File  Getting Them Home Alive.doc   56KB   268 downloads

This is superb Mike. I have been procrastinating about making a list of things to remember and now I don't have to. You have everything covered that I would have thought of and several that I wouldn't have thought of until I was there and it was too late. This should be a standard handout at all conventions.

Lots of great advice, Mike. I won't be collecting fish, but anyone who is should read this first. It could save you lots of time and help avoid many potential problems.

One addition Mike. You mention salt in your narrative and I think that is a great idea. You might want to add it to your checklist.

It's in with the chemicals and meds: □ Chlorine & chloramine remover, medications, salt
