I have been looking all over for Valisnerai americana and either find other species, or questionable labeling. Does anyone know of a site that sells accurately identified Valsineria americana? Or perhaps some of you need to thin out your aquarium?

Any chance that these websites have true Vallisneria americana?

I don't know much about vallisneria but those look like the right species. Aquabid.com also has a large selection, so you can price compare here: http://www.aquabid.c...cgi?liveplantsr

I have been looking through aquabid for the past few weeks and havn't seen any Vallisneria americana yet, just other, non-native Val. species. I know I have seen some before, but it was a while ago...

Here you go:

It's possible that 'jungle vals' are a larger morph or subspecies or just another name for vallisneria americana, but I don't know anything about plants. I wish I could tag NativePlanter on this so we could get an expert opinion. Well, if it is, here are some auctions for jungle vals:

Here is another source. I think jungle val is just a common name. http://www.azgardens...rium-plant.aspx

After a bit more research, it appears that there are many species of Vallisneria and it is very hard to distinguish the majority of them. I guess I need to stop being so picky and just get something that looks like V. americana... Look out for a tank build post in the future, where you can see what I end up with. Thanks for the help!

Sachs Systems Aquaculture sells tapegrass. I'm not sure if it's V. americana or not, but they're based in FL, so if they're collecting it...you could call and ask. They're always friendly and helpful.
