Hello, I'm setting up a 20 gallon tall and I would like to do sunfish. I was thinking of doing some bluespotted sunfish or blackbanded sunfish with a small mad tom. Or I was thinking of doing a species tank with 1 green sunfish, but I wasn't sure if it would have enough space. If you have any experience with either of these species or have a preference any help would be appreciated.

I believe you could go either way. With good filtration, you could do a couple of green sunfish.

Madtom will likely get eaten. But I think you could do a few small sunfish, but like Matt said, good filtration. Sunfish can be a bit messy.

Could a green sunfish and a warmouth go together in that tank?

I have had them together in a 55. You could give it a shot.

Would a stonecat work with them as well?

If your stonecat was of sufficient size, I believe it would be safe. Provide him with ample hiding spots, or he will be very uncomfortable. Make sure he gets fed well, as the sunfish will gobble up most feeds on the drop. A skewer with a piece of shrimp on it was one way that i used to get food down to a stonecat in his hiding hole.
